Sinfonietta Strings Ensemble and After School Beginning Strings Instructor

Job Summary
The instructor in this position is responsible for leading the After School Beginning Strings (ASBS) class for 3rd-5th graders at two elementary schools, as well as instructing the Sinfonietta Strings string ensemble. This person will also assist with various tasks and sectional work with our other youth ensembles. ASBS classes occur directly after the end of the school day Monday-Thursday. Sinfonia Youth Orchestra (SYO) ensembles meet on Sunday afternoons.

Employment Timeframes for 2025-2026 School year:
Aug 17 - Nov 22: 14 weeks
Nov 30 - Dec 14: 2 weeks
Jan 11 - Mar 15: 9 weeks
Mar 22 - May 3: 7 weeks June (TBD): 2 weeks
Total of 34 weeks

Type of Position and Compensation
? Part- time (Minimum of 13 hours per designated week with ability for additional hours depending on instruction schedule/ workload). 5 days a week. Sun-Thurs.
? $35-$45 an hour (negotiable and commensurate with experience)
? Access to a studio space in Destin for private studio instruction (with monthly fee). We generally funnel any students from your ASBS classes who are looking for private instruction directly to you.
? Mentorship and direction from other quality instructors
? Eligibility to be nominated for TATI Teaching Artist Training

Qualifications
? Bachelor’s degree in String Performance or Music Education (string emphasis) required.
? Group or classroom music teaching experience.
? Pass a background check and demonstrate proper documentation if not a U.S. citizen.
? Spanish language skills are a plus

Responsibilities and Duties
? Effective plan and prepare lessons and classes ranging from beginner to advanced.
? Keep attendance for each of your classes and notes on student progress/ needs.
? Coordinate one in school performance/ demonstration at the end of each semester for your classes with school administration.
? Attend weekly SYO rehearsals, as well as Fall and Spring SYO Concerts
? Email/call/text string parents to inform them of children’s progress, teacher cancellations, performances, etc. upon request of the Music Director.
? Communicate with Education Director on a regular basis.
? Must have a laptop or tablet that can access Google Drive, Asana, and Cut Time.
? Must provide your own transportation.
